Mamavation Monday

UGH!!!!! Could this cold last any longer? I’ve had it for about 2 weeks now (which is why I didn’t post last week, I was too drugged up to remember) and it’s getting a little old.

I’m so congested and snotty at the same time that I have no energy to workout or do anything, but I did manage to lose 1 1/2 lbs. somewhere. Probably b/c I’ve been too sick to eat a whole lot, but hey, I’ll take it.

Once this goes away and I get my other child in school (she starts tomorrow), I’m hoping to have a few hours everyday to devote to just me and working out.

How have you been doing?

Mamavation Monday (LATE)

So last week wasn’t a good week. We had school meetings, late football practices, getting ready for our beach trip, etc and I fell off the wagon. No if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. Things got way out of hand and with not getting home til 30 minutes before bedtime, dinner became something convenient instead of something healthy.

Fortunately, I only gained 1 1/2 lbs. with all of that and our vacation at the beach where ALL of our meals were paid for. Not that I ate bad, I just didn’t eat well.

I’m getting back on the wagon this week, so if you see me online, hound me about the exercising and water…I need some of my mojo back.

Goals for the week-

  • Lose the 1 1/2 lbs. I gained
  • One soda a day
  • 3 days on the elliptical

Mamavation Monday

The past two weeks have been completely insane (I even forgot to post last week).

After being with Mark for two straight months, it took some time to adjust being away from him again. The good news is that I didn’t gain any weight, but the bad news is I didn’t lose either. I guess maintaining is good when you are struggling with missing your husband, trying to get ready for back to school, dealing with family visiting, and getting into a routine with football practice.

Thankfully, school starts back this week so now that I have to get up earlier, I’m hoping to get in a few walks at the park each week, as well as working out on the elliptical and to the new Jillian Michaels DVD my Mother-In-Law bought me.

Goals for this week-

  • Drink 100 oz. of water a day
  • Get in 10 miles on the Elliptical
  • Work out 3 days to the Jillian Michaels DVD

BIG congratulations to Julie Mansfield @jamnsfld76 for being the Sista of the Week! Also, thanks to Lori @gutimom for sponsoring this week’s blogging carnival with her Avon giveaway.

Mamavation Monday

Last week was a tough week, to say the least.

I was not only trying to eat good and exercise, but I was trying to do it while living in a hotel. And to make matters worse, I had a some kind of icky bug that was making me nauseous and gave me diarrhea EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I ate.

Thankfully, I managed to make it and I’m doing much better now. And the best part is I lost 1 1/2 lbs this week!!!!

I’m not sure if it was me trying to eat well or the diarrhea, but either way, I’ll take it.

Last week Leah commented that I should share some tips for eating healthy, etc while traveling and who would I be to say no to Leah???

So, here are some things I tried to do while traveling so much this summer:

  • If possible, stay in a hotel with a full kitchen. We did and this was a HUGE player in me being able to eat healthy. I was not only able to save money by keeping us from having to eat out all the time, but I was able to control WHAT we ate.
  • When going out, stick to the basics. Go for salads (always dressing on the side), grilled food (most restaurants have delicious grilled salmon and chicken), veggies instead of loaded potatoes or fries, and order water. You can also ask the waitress to TRIPLE your veggies as most that come with the meal are for garnish.
  • Look for meals on the menu that are Low Fat or on the Weight Watchers plan as most restaurants have some sort of healthy alternative.
  • Ask the waiter to box half of your meal when you order it. This way you do not over eat and as a bonus, you have lunch for the next day.
  • Always order a salad before your meal. This way you get in some veggies and are less likely to overeat. Also, ask the waiter to skip the bread basket.
  • Check the menu before you leave home and decide what you want to eat. This way you won’t be tempted by what’s on the menu when ordering.
  • While most hotels don’t come with exercise rooms, they do come with a pool. This was a huge asset to me as I could let the kids play while I got in some workouts.

All in all, the main thing is to remember that just because you are traveling, doesn’t mean that you can’t eat healthy. Making meal plans and sticking to strict eating out rules will help you stay grounded and keep you from ruining the healthy habits you have instilled at home.

I’m proud to announce that we are officially done traveling. The plan was to be there for one more week, but we got an email stating that Zach’s football practice starts today so we had to come home. While I’m going to miss my hubby (he just left going back for 2 weeks) I’m glad to be back home so I can start getting the kids back into a routine before school starts.

This week’s goals-

  • Stick to only 8 oz of soda per day.
  • Get in AT LEAST 100 oz. of water a day, hopefully 125 oz. (I received my Hydracoach today, some I’m hoping this one will be easier to do)
  • 1 mile on the Elliptical and 30 minutes of other workouts each day.
  • Try to get in a few laps around the track when Zach has football practice

BIG congratulations to Rita @lovelyritaann for being the Sista of the Week! Also, don’t forget to check out this week’s blogging carnival sponsor, Katy Bowman and her Aligned and Well series.

You Capture-Black & White

This week’s assignment for You Capture is Black & White.

Black & White pictures are my favorite.

I don’t know why, they just are. Maybe it’s because with Black & White photos, you aren’t focusing on the colors in the picture, but the picture itself. Either way, I love them.

Here are my shots for the week-

This is my niece Serenity enjoying her 1st Birthday cake. Isn’t she adorable?

This is a shot I got of my sister and my niece while taking pictures for Serenity’s 1st Birthday. LOVE IT!
And of course, my two cutie pies playing on the couch earlier today.

You Capture-Vehicles

Now that I have an awesome camera, I’ve decided to start taking part in the You Capture Carnival at I Should Be Folding Laundry.

And I know that this is late, but I completely forgot to post this one last week because we were traveling back from the beach that day.

The assignment was vehicles. Here are my photos.

This tractor sits in my husband’s grandparents yard. And when I say it sits, I mean it sits. It never moves.
My son Zach and sister-in-law Ashley riding the kiddie roller coaster. Next Week’s Assignment-Black and White. Should be fun!
